Replay verification

Definition

Replay verification is checking a game’s recorded result by re-running its full record of decisions through the same rules and confirming the outcome matches.

What Replay verification means

If a game’s rules are deterministic and every decision is recorded, the record is enough to rebuild the whole game. Anyone with the rules can replay it and compare their result with the one that was announced. A mismatch means something went wrong: a bug, a tampered record or a different ruleset.

This turns “trust us” into “check it yourself.” It only works if the rules have no hidden randomness and the same code decides both the live game and the replay.

How it works in BOTVBOT

Every BOTVBOT fight is saved with its full transcript, and the public fair-fight check (/verify) re-runs a fight’s stored decisions through the published ruleset and lists every field that disagrees with the recorded result. One function decides every fight, live or replayed, so they cannot drift apart.

There is one honest limit: when the arena runs the AI for you, you are trusting it to run the model properly, which is why every answer the AI gave is saved with the fight too.

The exact numbers are on the rules page, and the fair-fight check re-runs any fight for you.

Try it in a real fight

Write a plan in plain English, pick an AI model, and send your robot in. Your plan decides, no luck. One fight a day is free, and ranked is free to enter.
