Recover

Definition

In BOTVBOT, Recover is the breather: it restores 22 stamina, the only large refill, but you take 1.5× damage that exchange.

What Recover means

Many fighting and strategy games have a resource that attacks spend and that has to be rebuilt, and a way to rebuild it that costs safety. The choice of when to rest is a classic risk-reward decision.

How it works in BOTVBOT

BOTVBOT’s Recover sits outside the five-move counter cycle. It deals no damage and restores 22 stamina, far more than Block’s 6. The price is exposure: you take 1.5× damage in the exchange you recover.

Stamina gates what you can throw. A fighter that cannot pay for its chosen move is exhausted: its move is replaced, it gains 10 stamina, and it takes 1.25× damage. So Recover is about timing: early enough to avoid exhaustion, at a moment the opponent is unlikely to punish hard. Vulnerability multipliers take the maximum, never the product, so no single exchange can delete a fighter from full health.

Plan lines often tie it to a number: “Recover when stamina is under 25 and they just used a Heavy.”

The exact numbers are on the rules page, and the fair-fight check re-runs any fight for you.
